It prefers perching on low hanging branches and consuming lollipops.
Many have mistakenly identified Nicholas the bird as a horn-bill, or even a horn-bill's sibling.
It however has very distinct feathers of brown and white accompanied by a pronounced red beak which resembles anything on earth but a horn-bill.

The appearance of Nicholas the bird can change dramatically during the mating season.
This is the same bird during the mating season when it is not perched on treetops.
